Meet this photography duo Regis and Kahran Bethencourt of CreativeSoul Photography– who shot and styled young models into a stunning photo AfroArt series to celebrate the versatility of black hair and it’s intrinsic beauty.
After photographing together for over 10-years, the Atlanta based couple decided to showcase their royal past with the aim of empowering kids with natural hair (and others in the industry) to embrace it – and for the young boys and girls to feel noble of their culture and natural curls.
Styled in shining African-inspired clothes, young black models, endowed with afros, twists, and wreaths as symbols of love and power, intends to illustrate the beauty, culture, and heritage of afro hairdos – but AfroArt series is something unusual and out-of-the-box from the general imagery seen during those periods.
Besides, the duo didn’t restrict the project for professional models – so the series includes an exhilarating mix of both working child models and first-timers. And though most of them just saw it as a fun experience, they left the studio feeling a little more proud of them!
This series was photographed in several cities around the world, including the US, Uk, France, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa – but you keep scrolling to see the majestic photo series at your place.
