Artists Pay Their Deep Respect And Love To The Late Gene Deitch, The Illustrator Of Tom & Jerry And Popeye! (14 Pics)

OK, while a lot of people spent their childhood binge-watching Tom & Jerry and Popeye, very few of us know the master behind it, Eugene Merril Deitch, usually known freely as Gene Deitch, was an American illustrator, animator, comics artist, and film director. He was also acknowledged for creating other famous animated cartoons Munro, Tom Terrific, and Nudnik.

Gene Deitch spent most of his life in Prague, Czechia, Europe, where he relocated back in 1959 when Rembrandt Films promised to fund Munro. He lived there his entire life and alas passed unexpectedly on April 16, 2020, at the prime age of 95. Since discerning about his passing, artists from all over the world have flooded social media with heart-melting artwork as a tribute to the late illustrator. May God bless his soul!

Though you may not be familiar with Gene Deitch’s name, you are unquestionably familiar with his work, so now, it’s time to give that figure a tribute for making you (us) smile over the years.
